This exhibition presents more than fifty works from the museum’s permanent collection—paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculpture—that highlight athletes and entertainers who profoundly shaped U.S. culture. It celebrates “winners” not only in sports or on stage, but also those who overcame adversity and influenced society.
Concept: A timeless chronicle of courage and triumph.
Through the lens of a living chronicle, Gertrude Ederle’s journey unfolds like pages of a timeless book—each stroke inscribed in history, each record etched as testimony of her resilience and creativity. By visualizing her athletic path as a narrative written in motion, the story highlights both her struggles and triumphs, magnified as chapters of an enduring legacy.
