Building a Collaborative System for CoMotion 2026
Student Event
Role: Visual Development & Production Systems, Kinetic Typography
Focus: System Design, Cross-team Collaboration, Visual Development, Production Workflow
CoMotion is a multidisciplinary student-led motion design event that brings together designers, animators, and filmmakers across parallel teams.
As the project scaled, communication, alignment, and visibility across teams became increasingly complex.
I focused on designing a production and communication system that could support cross-disciplinary collaboration, structuring how information flows, how teams connect, and how work progresses over time.
Alongside this, I contributed to storyboard development and visual exploration, bridging creative direction with production execution.
The Challenge
As the project grew, collaboration became increasingly complex:
Communication was fragmented across teams
No centralized system for onboarding and contact
Workflow and responsibilities were unclear
Information was distributed across emails, meetings, and chats
This created friction in alignment, slowed down decision-making, and made it difficult for teams to stay connected.
As the production assistant, I helped with animating the Main Title for the title cards. (Design, Immersive, Short Form, Sound)
The system
To address this, I focused on designing a structured system that organizes how teams communicate, collaborate, and move work forward.
I established a centralized communication structure that connects all team members across disciplines.
Mapped and organized team contacts
Defined communication channels and entry points
Structured announcements and information flow
This ensured that every team member had clarity on where to go, who to reach, and how to stay aligned.
01 — Communication Framework
I developed an onboarding approach that defines how collaboration begins.
Organized initial alignment meetings
Introduced team structure and workflow expectations
Clarified roles and collaboration logic
This created a shared understanding of how teams interact from the start.
02 — Onboarding & Alignment
I helped structure the production pipeline to support ongoing collaboration.
Designed file organization systems (Dropbox)
Supported workflow clarity across design and animation teams
Facilitated communication between production and creative
The system allowed work to move more smoothly across teams and stages.
03 — Production Workflow
Alongside system design, I contributed to early creative development.
Participated in discussions around title sequence direction.
Supported storyboard development and visual exploration.
This allowed me to bridge creative direction with production execution.
04 — Creative Contribution
Outcome
The system improved clarity, alignment, and efficiency across teams:
Enabled smoother communication between disciplines
Increased visibility of workflow and responsibilities
Supported faster feedback and iteration cycles
More importantly, it created a foundation where creative work could happen more fluidly.
Reflection
This project shifted my role beyond execution into systems thinking.
Rather than focusing only on individual outputs, I explored how structure, communication, and workflow can shape creative outcomes.
It reinforced my interest in designing not just visuals, but the systems that enable them.
